What is the Difference Between AI and Machine Learning?

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are crucial parts of computer science and are correlated. Occasionally, people use these terms interchangeably or as a synonym for one another. However, in different cases, they mean different things.

Artificial Intelligence

AI is a computer system that mimics human intelligence. AI systems do not require pre-programming. Instead, they use algorithms that work with their intelligence.

There are three classifications of AI:
· Weak AI
· General AI
· Strong AI
Currently, we are focusing on weak and general AI – like Alexa, Siri, Cortana, and Bixby. Strong AI is for the future, which may be more intelligent than humans.

Learning

Machine learning focuses more on extracting knowledge from data. It enables computer systems to make predictions and decisions using historical data. Machine learning is used for various friends, like Google search algorithms and spam filters for email.

AI vs. ML

AI solves tasks that require human intelligence, and ML is a subcategory of artificial intelligence that solves specific tasks by learning from data and making predictions.

Simply put, all machine learning is AI, but not all AI is machine learning. But the best way to figure out the benefits of both is to pit them against each other.

Artificial Intelligence has various advantages in every industry, including:
· Reduction in human error
· Takes risks instead of humans (like AI robots in hazardous situations)
· Available 24×7
· Helpful in Repetitive Jobs
· Digital Assistance
· Faster Decisions
· Daily Applications (Alexa, Siri, etc.)

Machine Learning has plenty of practical advantages as well, including:
· Complete automation
· Wide range of application
· Great scope for improvement
· Efficient data handling
· Excellent for education and online shopping

Use Cases

Many of us have already heard about AI. Anyone with a smartphone has already used it, even if they don’t realize it. Millions of people own at least one Alexa device in their homes. However, your handy phone assistant or Amazon Echo is not the only way to use AI.

As for machine learning, many regular people use it daily. Searching for the best answers to questions and tagging photos are examples of machine learning.

Businesses may use machine learning to send out target emails or rank posts on social media.

The Future of AI and Machine Learning

It is critical to keep an eye on AI and ML developments. Both models hold much potential, especially identifying customer trends and patterns.
